McHenry Sportsman’s Club Newsletter (October 11, 2000)
Dear Members and Families:
We are well into our fall season.
Most of the ATA activities will be winding down for the winter (except for those who book airline tickets to shoot out of state).
This means many of us will be once again shooting at our local clubs.
We welcome all of you at the McHenry Sportsmen’s Club and hope to be seeing all of you soon.
The Fall Turkey Shoot
This year we will once again be hosting our annual Fall Turkey Shoot.
The format will be much like last year.
The guys are forever attempting to figure out new and better ways of conducting the games, but as of now, things seem stable.
The dates for the shoot are as follows:
Saturday, November 4 and Sunday November 5, 2000
From 12:00 PM until 5:00 PM
This shoot normally has a great turnout, so please mark your calendars and
join in on some fun and at the same time, bring home your Thanksgiving turkey.
The Gun Raffle
We have arranged another gun raffle.
The prize is a Browning BT-100.
I have seen this gun, and I hope I win it.
The demand for shooting doubles has gotten to the point where it is the next action item at McHenry.
As nice as our automatic machines appear to be, they are not capable of releasing two targets at the same time.
The raffle is intended to help the club raise money to purchase a trap machine capable of throwing ATA regulation trap doubles.
Once installed, this machine will be normally available any time the club is open.
Its duty priority will be any type of game where “true pair” doubles are involved.
This comes right on the heels of a successful rollout of automatic trap machines earlier this year.
The tickets are twenty dollars for a single ticket and fifty dollars for a group of three.
There are one hundred and twenty eight tickets with “twenty-some” tickets sold already.
We hope to have the remaining tickets sold by the end of the year.
The drawing will occur when the tickets are sold.
This will help our club.
We want to keep improving the club and not increase the shooting fees.
This is a good way to do this.
And.. just think, you may win the gun after all.
The odds are very favorable.
The Summer League
The summer league is ending at this writing.
The prizes will be awarded during the Turkey Shoot.
The Fall League
Another league is brewing and from what I am told, there will be less targets and handicapped in such a way that anyone, regardless of their shooting ability will have an equal chance of winning.
When the format becomes finalized, we will send the information as soon as possible to you.
GOOD SHOOTING TO ALL
Sincerely,
Tom Carneal, Club Treasurer
